David J. Chernicky

President & CEO

As President & CEO, Chernicky is responsible for the overall direction of New Dominion, an independent oil and gas exploration and production firm based in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A veteran of the petroleum industry with over 31 years of experience, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1978 with a degree in exploration geophysics. Early in his career and prior to graduating, he worked for an independent geologist in Oklahoma City for two years during college. Upon completion of his degree, he was employed as a geologist for Marathon Oil in Casper, Wyoming and later, Amoco Production in Denver, Colorado.

Upon his return to his native Oklahoma he worked as a consulting geologist for several exploration firms and was directly responsible for the successful discovery, acquisition, drilling and completion of over 100 new wells in the state. In 1983, he formed Chernico Exploration, a predecessor to his New Dominion enterprise. In 1995, with backing from Altex Resources, he pioneered an innovative dewatering technique that reclaims substantial new production from old reserves. This technique is one of the catalysts behind the growth of NDL.

New Dominion was formed in 1998 with two other partners. By mid-2002 Chernicky had assumed full ownership of the company, which has grown exponentially ever since.
